I am FINALLY getting around to writing the first blog post for this site. I don't think I will be posting regularly but I have ideas for future blog posts! If you are reading this, thank you so much for being here! This initial post will be an introduction to myself and then Ace who is the real star of the show!
My name is Brittney and I live in Saskatchewan, Canada with my boy, Ace. I have a background in urban planning and currently work in that field as a senior planner. My hobbies include hanging out with Ace, hanging out with human friends, consuming true crime, reading, cooking and exercising. Okay, enough about me haha

Ace is a combination of several breeds. I did the Embark DNA test to find out and it was mostly to be able to look out for breed specific health conditions. Ace is a little more than half Siberian Husky, German Shepherd, Rottweiler and a few retrievers. He has the colouring of a GSD but the facial structure, tail, and attitude of a Husky. He does not have a poker face hahah Ace will be 6 years old in June.
I always said to myself that I would not get a dog until I had my own backyard. Well, joke is on me. In November 2023, I had just given up on online dating (you know how it is lol) and I was scrolling the facebook page of Running Wild Rescue, a rescue run by my best friends sister in Moose Jaw, SK. I was "only browsing" I told myself. Yeah right lol I knew I did not want a puppy because my schedule simply would not allow for that. I came across Aces page and I messaged Jasmin at Running Wild and she put me in contact with Candice, Aces foster. Ace and Candice were located in Prince Albert, SK. At the time, I was living in an apartment. But I texted Candice anyways and we met halfway in Rosthern. My friend Erin came with me. What could happen with us two suckers going to meet a dog? Needless to say, I met Ace and it was truly love at first site. He is so happy and so charismatic. Ace ended up coming to live with me exactly one week later on November 25, 2023.

The following information is what I have been told about Ace's past:
his first owner and himself were homeless and lived on the streets of PA.
When Ace was about 1 year old, he went and lived with his owners mother. During that time, Aces owner was murdered.
Likely for a multitude of reasons, Ace ended up living back on the streets for several months by himself.
He was rescued by an individual. However, that individual was moving to Saskatoon to a place that did not allow pets. Ace then went to live with this persons parents.
The parents had a dog already and Ace did not get along with their dog.
Ace then went to live with his foster Candice before coming to me.
There are likely gaps in that story and again, the above is based on information I have been told. This blog will be about the relationship Ace and I are continually cultivating and this will include how we both cope with his reactivity to other dogs.
For now we are going to sign off but thanks for reading!
